How it works

Follow these 4 simple steps to start automatically removing product tags at scheduled times for timed product releases

Schedule

App connector: Schedule • Time to complete: 1 minute
Why this matters: This sets the exact date and time when MESA will check your products and remove the specified tags to make them available for purchase.

You'll select a specific date and time when you want the tag removal to happen. This could be for a product launch, sale start time, or any scheduled release. The workflow will remain dormant until this scheduled moment arrives, then automatically execute all the remaining steps. Choose your timing carefully since this determines when your products become available to customers.

Get List of Products

App connector: Shopify • Time to complete: 0 minutes (Auto-configured)
Why this matters: This retrieves all your Shopify products so the workflow can scan through them to find which ones have the release tag that needs to be removed.

MESA automatically pulls up to 250 products from your Shopify store to examine their tags. This step runs without any input from you - it simply gathers all your product data so the next step can filter through them. The product information includes titles, IDs, tags, and other details needed to identify which products are ready for release.

Loop: Get tags

App connector: Loop • Time to complete: 1 minute
Why this matters: This filters through all your products to find only the ones that have the specific tag you want to remove, ensuring the workflow only affects the intended products.

You'll specify which tag MESA should look for when checking your products before release. For example, if you tag unreleased products with "coming-soon" or "pre-launch", enter that exact tag name here. The loop examines each product from the previous step and creates a list of only those products that contain your specified tag. Only products with this tag will proceed to the final removal step.

Product Remove Tag

App connector: Shopify • Time to complete: 1 minute
Why this matters: This removes the specified tag from each filtered product, making them available for purchase according to your release schedule.

You'll enter the tag that should be removed to make your products available for purchase. This should be the same tag you specified in the previous step - MESA asks again so this step knows exactly which tag to remove from each product. Once removed, products that were hidden or marked as "coming soon" will become available to customers. The tag removal happens automatically for all products identified in the loop.

Make it your own

Customize this workflow even further:

Set custom delays
Add wait periods between tag removal and follow-up actions, like sending a launch announcement email 30 minutes after products go live.
Chain multiple actions
Connect product publishing with inventory updates, customer notifications, and team alerts all in one workflow when the scheduled time arrives.
Deploy AI agents for smart decisions
Let AI agents evaluate product readiness, stock levels, or market conditions before deciding whether to proceed with the scheduled tag removal.
Store data in tables
Track which products were released when, creating a launch history database for analyzing release timing and performance.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I need to change the scheduled release time after setting it up?
You can edit the workflow and update the scheduled date and time before it executes. However, once the scheduled time has passed and the workflow has run, you'll need to manually re-add tags to products if you want to reschedule their release.
Can I use this workflow to remove multiple different tags at the same time?
This workflow removes one specific tag at a time. To remove multiple tags during the same scheduled event, you'd need to duplicate this workflow and configure each copy to target a different tag, all with the same scheduled time.
Will this workflow work if I have more than 250 products in my store?
The current configuration retrieves up to 250 products. If you have more products, you'll need to modify the "Get List of Products" step to increase the limit or add pagination to process all your products in batches.

Yes! Every step can be customized to meet your exact requirements. Additionally, you can even add more steps and make it more sophisticated.
Are templates free?
Yes! Our entire library containing hundreds of templates are free to use and customize to your exact needs.
