Why this matters: This trigger detects when you create a new product in your Shopify admin and kicks off the entire workflow. Without this trigger, the automation won't know when to generate descriptions for new products.

This step monitors your Shopify store for newly created products and automatically captures the product title and ID when one is added. The trigger runs in the background and requires no configuration - it's set to fire every time a product is created. Once activated, it passes the product information to the AI step for description generation.

The AI step takes the product title from the trigger and uses it to create a product description. The default prompt is set to "Write a brief product description for a product called [product title]" but you can customize this prompt to include specific instructions about tone, length, key features to highlight, or brand voice. You can also adjust the temperature setting (currently set to 1) to control how creative or conservative the AI responses are.

Can I customize the writing style or length of the descriptions?

Yes, you can edit the prompt in Step 2 to specify exactly what you want. For example, change it to "Write a compelling 2-paragraph product description for [product title] that emphasizes benefits over features and uses an enthusiastic but professional tone."

Will this overwrite existing product descriptions if I edit them later?

No, this workflow only runs when a product is first created. If you manually edit a description after the workflow runs, it won't be overwritten. The trigger only fires on new product creation, not updates.

What happens if the AI generates a description I don't like?

You can manually edit any description in your Shopify admin after it's generated. You can also improve future results by refining the AI prompt in Step 2 to be more specific about what you want, or adjust the temperature setting to make responses more or less creative. Additionally, add an Approval step before the generated description is added to the product in Shopify.
